ANSSI and its cybersecurity experts
ANSSI (the National Agency for the Security of Information Systems, established in 2009) has more than 600 staff members. Among them are cybersecurity experts who work every day to combat cybercrime.
Every year, these specialists assist organizations of all sizes and types with information system security.
Especially since the numbers confirm it: the number of cyberattacks isn’t going down!
In fact, “the operations center receives nearly 3,000 reports each year,” notes François Deruty, deputy director in charge of operations at ANSSI.
In 2019, ANSSI experts reported 379 incidents, including 9 major ones.
The agency also conducts cyberdefense operations (16 in 2019). ANSSI experts are then deployed to organizations that have been the victims of cyberattacks to resolve an extremely “critical” and/or crippling situation.
ANSSI warns of the growing threat…
“The risk of a cyber-Pearl Harbor is a reality,” says Guillaume Poupard, the CEO. (source: Challenges)
Furthermore, at the 19th edition of the Assises de la Sécurité conference (October 2019), he noted that ransomware attacks were one of the three most prominent trends in 2019.
He added that “the general public is not yet sufficiently aware of this.” (source: zdnet)
In fact, the growing number of attacks (Saint-Gobain, Lise Charmel, and the municipalities of Sarrebourg and Sequedin…) demonstrate that we must not let our guard down. People often remain an organization’s Achilles’ heel. Consequently, it is more sustainable to prevent fires rather than put them out. Therefore, ANSSI has developed methodological frameworks in the form of guides and recommendations intended for everyone. Indeed, investing in cybersecurity awareness and knowing the best practices to adopt on a daily basis (such as familiarizing oneself with the DMARCprotocol, for example) are the only preventive measures that will spare any organization the need for ANSSI experts to intervene.
